Integrating virtual and AUGMENTED reality with WEARable technology into engineering EDUcation (AugmentedWearEdu)
The project “Integrating virtual and AUGMENTED reality with WEARable technology into engineering EDUcation (AugmentedWearEdu)” aims to offer learning tools that incorporate immersive learning technologies to enable digital access to virtual laboratories in higher education institutions. This will involve the use of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) tools with next generation wearable haptic devices. The proposed combination of low-cost commercial technologies (using open-source software and low-cost wearable devices) will enable kinesthetic learning.
The project is a collaboration between the University of Agder (Norway, project coordinator), Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania), Timisoara Polytechnic University (Romania), University of Siena (Italy) and University of Minho (Portugal). The KTU team consists of researchers, educators and engineers from the KTU Department of Software Engineering and the VRLab laboratory.
Project funding:
The European Union programme Erasmus+
Project results:
A conception design model for assessing teachers’ competences in the use of immersive technologies for teaching was developed. A computer-based tool has been developed to assess the competences in using immersive technologies for teaching. A learning programme has been developed for the mastery of immersive technologies (virtual, augmented reality and wearable devices). The learning materials were developed according to learning programme.
Period of project implementation: 2020-09-01 - 2023-05-31
