This is a space where creativity meets cutting-edge technologies. Here, students can experiment, create innovative projects, and gain practical experience working with modern VR and AR equipment: from interactive glasses to haptic technology.

Our goal is to nurture talents who will shape the world of technology.

In the laboratory, we implement various projects: from educational VR games to augmented reality solutions for real-world problems. We cooperate with business and academic partners, so your ideas can become global innovations!

Educational projects

Historical Aircraft
	Goal – To showcase historic Lithuanian aircraft developed in independent Lithuania during the interwar period (1919–1939), along with a few other historic vehicles. The app features six historic aircraft (ANBO I, ANBO IV, ANBO VII, DOBI I, DOBI II, DOBI III), the legendary airplane Lituanica, and Lithuania’s first tank, Slibinas. More information..

Lithuanian Armed Forces Vehicles
	The solution consists of 3 products: a virtual online tour, a virtual reality tour (Oculus platform), and a 3D shooting game designed for virtual reality (Oculus platform). In the virtual tour (for both web and VR), there is an armored personnel carrier M113, a helicopter, and a military aircraft (Spartan). More information..

Flight over the Atlantic – Lituanica
	The game tells the story of two Lithuanian pilots – Steponas Darius and Stasys Girėnas. In 1933, they decided to fly across the Atlantic Ocean in a modified aircraft named “Lituanica.” They took off from New York but, tragically, met their fate just before reaching their final destination. Multimodal System for Post-Stroke Rehabilitation
	The created games incorporate multiple modalities and are tailored to individual needs. This personalization is achieved by monitoring the rehabilitating person’s performance and adjusting the difficulty of the game tasks to best match the patient’s abilities. More information..

VESTVR

This is a digital diagnostic system for vestibular function disorders. The system is based on the Subjective Visual Vertical (SVV) test. The system consists of a virtual reality program for the patient, a mobile application for the doctor, and an information system for data storage. The VR program displays the visual vertical and allows it to be adjusted. The doctor’s mobile application controls the testing process and enables monitoring of the patient’s progress. VR animacija vakcinoms

This virtual reality project is designed for clinics that perform medical procedures on children. Specifically, the solution is intended for procedures that may frighten children—such as vaccinations, blood drawings, etc. During the procedure, the doctor places virtual reality glasses on the child, which display an animated storyline. The storyline is designed to divert the child’s attention away from the procedure, with something impressive happening at a specific moment in the animation. During this event, the doctor performs the procedure, and the child is expected to feel no discomfort, thereby reducing stress. This solution is currently used by two institutions in Lithuania. VR ROWING

The goal of this project is to use a rowing machine as a natural input interface for a virtual reality program. The Concept2 rowing machine was chosen, which is also used by professional rowers. Using virtual reality, users are transported to Lake Galvė near Trakai Island Castle. Their goal is to row a distance of 250 meters and cross the finish line. Users can complete this distance alone or compete with other users connected on a local network. More information..

Snowland VR 2.0
	Snowland VR is a skiing simulation game in virtual reality. The game uses a specially designed balancing platform as input, while virtual reality transports users into a snowy mountain environment. More information..

Gunplay VR
	Shooter-type games are not new in virtual reality. Typically, these games use standard VR input devices—motion controllers. Controllers allow players to control the game, pick up and use various tools, and interact with the environment. However, standard input devices lack the feel of holding a real object in hand. What’s up, Kaunas?

This application is designed to enrich street art in Kaunas. Augmented reality is used to recognize street art exhibits in Kaunas and overlay them with interactive and animated elements. Since augmented reality technology is applied, the animated elements are linked to the artworks and remain in the correct position regardless of the perspective from which they are viewed. This creates the impression that the drawings are truly animated. More information..

Virtual paraglider

For the virtual paraglider project, a specially designed structure was built to simulate a paraglider. The construction consists of a frame with a suspended paraglider harness. The structure provides the program with three inputs: the rotation angle of the harness, and the pulling force of the left and right brake lines. These inputs give the user control possibilities that create an immersive and realistic sensation of paragliding. More information..

Eggs VR
	This virtual reality project recreates the old game “Wolf and Eggs.” In this game, players control a wolf with a basket to catch falling chicken eggs. In Eggs VR, the player is given a physical basket to collect the eggs. A VR motion controller is mounted on the real basket, and the virtual basket model is created to replicate the real one. Learning by Doing

This is a student project that recreates an interactive e-school resource in virtual reality. During this interaction, the user must correctly assemble the human skeleton. The program features two tools to help identify each bone: the Necronomicon and the Scanner. When a bone is placed on the virtual altar, the Necronomicon opens an informational page about that bone. The information provided should help determine where the selected bone belongs. More information..

The lost Aleksotas

Not everyone is likely aware of the Palace of the Institute of Physics and Chemistry at Vytautas Magnus University. It was a remarkable interwar building in Kaunas. During World War II, the palace was destroyed in an explosion. The goal of this project was to use historical sources to create a digital 3D model of the palace and place it in approximately the same location where it once stood, with the help of virtual reality.
