When ideas turn into solutions: ICIST 2025 conference – latest trends in artificial intelligence and the future of e-health

Important | 2025-10-23

The annual international conference “International Conference on Information and Software Technologies” (ICIST), organised by the Faculty of Informatics of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU IF), took place on October 16–17. It brought together researchers from informatics, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and other fields from around the world.

The event brought together researchers, engineers, and practitioners from the academic and business environments to share the latest research in information systems, software engineering, and AI applications, emphasising the importance of combining technologies with social needs.

“ICIST is a conference during which theory turns into practice. We want each presentation to have real applicability and promote cooperation between universities, business and the public sector,” emphasised Dr Audrius Lopata, one of the event organisers.

This year’s conference featured presentations from renowned scientists from Italy, Finland and Greece. Dr Gionata Salvietti presented research on human-robot interaction, Dr Bilhanan Silverajan examined cybersecurity challenges in the Internet of Things (IoT) environment, and Dr Serafeim Moustakidis shared insights on the application of artificial intelligence in the fields of health and biomechanics.

“At this year’s ICIST conference, we aimed to show how technology is becoming a part of human life – from smart systems to education and health solutions,” said the conference organiser, KTU IF Vice-Dean for Science Dr Daina Gudonienė.

KTU IF Dean Assoc. Prof. Jonas Čeponis emphasised the importance of the conference for the Lithuanian scientific community: “The ICIST conference generates new ideas that connect the university, business and innovation. This is a great example of how international cooperation strengthens the technological potential of our country.”

Wide variety of topics and international visibility

The special sessions discussed a wide range of research. The conference sessions presented the latest research on artificial intelligence algorithms, data analysis, language technologies, e-learning solutions, and e-health. The cybersecurity section discussed data protection and the development of reliable IT systems. The topics discussed included data protection standards and the use of AI to improve the detection of security vulnerabilities and code quality problems.

Inspiration for future research

At the end of the event, the chairman of the conference program committee, Dr Audrius Lopata, shared that the ICIST conference brings together the best experts in their field every year. “Every year, we grow and invite professionals to share research results, discoveries, and surprises in our areas of study. The range and quality of the presented works allow us to confidently say that we are successfully creating information and software technologies of the future,” said A. Lopata.

The successfully concluded ICIST 2025 conference once again established the KTU Faculty of Informatics as an international platform promoting advancing information and software technologies and interdisciplinary reciprocity.
