The Patron Scholarship Contest opens with a prize fund of almost twelve thousand euros

The Patrons’ Scholarship Contest opens on 22 May. This year, nine companies will award Kaunas University of Technology Faculty of Informatics (KTU FI) students for the best bachelor’s and master’s thesis projects. The prize fund amounts to to 11 585 euros. Sixteen students and seven final project supervisors will be awarded scholarships. This is a great opportunity to receive a financial incentive for their efforts and willingness to improve.

As many as nine companies will be providing named scholarships and prizes: „Centric IT Solutions Lithuania“, „Teltonika Networks“, „KAYAK Lithuania“, „Juvare Lithuania“, „TeleSoftas“ „TransUnion“, „TutoTOONS“, „Festo Lietuva“ ir „Singletonas“.

We invite Faculty of Informatics students and their lecturers – supervisors of final projects – to take part in the Patrons’ Scholarship Contest, where the best final projects will be awarded.

All the necessary information about the Patronage Scholarship Contest can be found in the Academic Information System (AIS) under the section ” Contests “. Anyone can apply by submitting the documents below:

Applications can be submitted to the AIS until 15 June at 23:59.

IMPORTANT: If the thesis is by multiple persons, the amount of the scholarship will be divided into equal parts. Each author of the thesis must submit the application in the academic system.

The amounts awarded to the supervisor of the thesis are stated before the taxes.

Centric IT Solutions Lithuania scholarship for the best Bachelor and Master projects

Two scholarships of EUR 400 each are awarded to students who have successfully defended their bachelor’s thesis, one scholarship of EUR 400 to a student who has successfully defended his/her master’s thesis, and one scholarship of EUR 300 to his/her supervisor.

Qualitative criteria: structurally well-organised thesis, defended with a score of at least 8; exceptional product functionality, innovation.

Specificity of the application area: development of an app, development of a website.

Specific technologies used: PowerShell, Python, React, Angular, Javascript.

Impact criteria: applicability to society or organisations, solving relevant problems.

 

Teltonika Networks scholarship for the best bachelor’s project for a student and his supervisor

A scholarship of EUR 1 000 is awarded to the student for his/her final bachelor’s thesis and EUR 885 to the supervisor.

The final project must be related to one of the items given:

  1. The thesis deals with the problem of networking;
  2. It addresses the problem of IoT devices communicating with Cloud platforms;
  3. It addresses the problem of adapting existing IoT devices;
  4. It addresses the problem of designing and/or modifying IoT devices;
  5. The work addresses the problem of designing and/or modifying networking security devices;
  6. The work addresses the problem of design and/or modification of network protocols;
  7. Software development for Openwrt and/or other Linux systems.

The thesis will be assessed on the following criteria:

  1. Completeness;
  2. Uniqueness/ originality;
  3. Complexity;
  4. Volume;
  5. Usefulness/market relevance;

 

KAYAK Lithuania scholarships for bachelor and master students

There are two scholarships: a scholarship of EUR 500 for a student defending a bachelor’s thesis and a scholarship of EUR 500 for a student defending a master’s thesis.

Requirements provided by the company:

  • A relevant topic based on a real-world problem;
  • The ability to implement and adapt the solution being researched or developed;
  • Creative and innovative ideas are used in the project;
  • The project is complete and all objectives are met;
  • the documentation is clear, well-organized and easily understandable.

 

Juvare Lithuania scholarships for bachelor and master students

Two scholarships are awarded: a scholarship of EUR 500 for a student who defends a bachelor’s thesis and a scholarship of EUR 500 for a student who defends a master’s thesis.

Requirements to be considered for the scholarship:

  • A well-structured thesis defended with a minimum grade of 8
  • Clear and well-based relevance of the problem;
  • A practical solution implemented;
  • A solution can be implemented in a practical situation;
  • Complete graphical interface.

 

TeleSoftas scholarships for bachelor and master students

Two scholarships are awarded: a scholarship of EUR 500 for a student who has defended a bachelor’s thesis and a scholarship of EUR 500 for a student who has defended a master’s thesis.

The thesis must meet at least one of the following criteria:

An IT product that is designed and developed with the aim of minimising the negative impact on the environment and maximising the social and economic benefits:

Energy efficiency, which includes optimising code for performance, reducing unnecessary computational and storage requirements, and using energy-efficient hardware;

  • Efficient use of resources, including computing resources, memory and network bandwidth;
  • Accessible for users with disabilities;
  • Open and transparent, with publicly available source code and documentation;
  • Secure and confidential to protect users from unauthorised access to their data and to protect the system from data breaches;
  • Flexible and easily scalable;

The FP documentation shall describe how sustainability has been taken into account in the development of the product.

 

TransUnion scholarship for a bachelor student

A scholarship of EUR 500 is awarded to a student who has defended his/her bachelor’s thesis.

The company has provided the criteria on which the thesis will be assessed:

  • Innovation;
  • Relevance of the topic;
  • Solution efficiency;
  • Applicability to future trends.

 

TutoTOONS scholarship for a bachelor student and his/her supervisor

A scholarship of EUR 500 is awarded to a student who has written and defended a bachelor thesis and EUR 500 to the supervisor of the thesis.

  • Criteria for the evaluation of the thesis:
  • Attractive game design;
  • Interesting and engaging game mechanics;
  • High visual quality;
  • High-quality, seamless style and aesthetic game images, environments, animations, and effects;
  • High technical quality, exceptional UX;
  • Smooth operation, intuitive and user-friendly user interface;
  • High market potential;

 

Singletonas scholarships for students and supervisors

A scholarship of EUR 600 for a student who has defended his/her bachelor’s thesis and EUR 400 for his/her supervisor. There is also a €600 scholarship for a student who has defended his/her master’s thesis and €400 for his/her supervisor.

Requirements for the scholarship:

  • Completeness of the thesis;
  • Innovative nature of the topic;
  • Impact on sustainable development and community.

 

Festo Lietuva Scholarship for bachelor and master students and their thesis supervisors

Scholarships are awarded: a scholarship of EUR 500 for a student who has defended a bachelor’s thesis and a scholarship of EUR 500 for a student who has defended a master’s thesis. A further EUR 350 each are awarded to the supervisors of their theses.

Requirements for the scholarships are:

First scholarship – “Uniqueness”

  • Uniqueness of the solution in the market;
  • Innovation;
  • Visible high potential for commercialisation;
  • A detailed and constructive presentation;
  • High level of security.

Second scholarship – “Sustainability”

  • Addresses a sustainability issue;
  • Use case for automation – resource optimisation;
  • High level of security;
  • A detailed and constructive presentation.
